All thought disappeared as feelings engulfed her. Soft, hot flesh met her own as his mouth cascaded urgently with hers. His tongue tasted her, one hand squeezing her buttocks, the other pulling her to him possessively. It might have been hours before he put her down, holding her steady as she fought through the mist of passion to find her feet.
“Wow,” she breathed.
His voice was low, gravelly now. His muscular arms were holding her tight, his hard body pressed against hers on the narrow ledge. “It’s all about calculated risk,” he said.
In that moment something feral overcame her. She crushed her lips to his firm, delicious flesh, her every nerve ending coming alive.
He tossed and turned, waking at dawn, soft light flowing through the window. And there she was, his dream manifested, lying face-to-face, those lips so close to his. It was in that space between wake and sleep, where thought took second place to feelings that he touched his lips to hers, gently tasting, testing to see if she was real.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me.”
He shouldn’t know who ‘me’ was, but the seductive voice conjured up an image of a perfect face, framed by blonde hair and those inquisitive green eyes. Nonetheless he asked, “Me who?”
“Tess. The girl from the truck.”
So that was her name. Yeah, it fit...
The feel of his body up against hers, his arms around her, was so comforting, so right, that the next thing she did took all the strength she had left.
She stood up and began to pull her clothes back on.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his tongue sleepy with the effort.
“I’m leaving.”
He stayed exactly where he was for a moment, then took a small step to the side. She had no choice but to brush against him as she went to turn on the tap. Goosebumps immediately jumped to attention all over her skin. Her body was alive with him.
“Take a deep breath,” he said. Then he took each of her hands in his and pulled her under the water with him. His gaze never once left hers as he blew out bubbles and she realized he wanted her to do the same. In that moment it was just the two of them in the cool liquid, the two of them in the world. Cathy forgot that the only thing against her skin was a piece of flimsy black Velcro. She felt so safe, so free and marveled at the fact that this man was teaching her to breathe.
